Thursday 17 September, 2015

Kerry was honoured to host Minister Bi Jingquan, Minister for the China Food & Drug Authority (CFDA), Senior CFDA Officials and senior representatives of Chinese IMF and dairy companies at the Kerry Global Technology & Innovation Centre in Naas this week. Minister Bi and his officials were very impressed by the Kerry Centre and the technical capabilities of the Kerry organisation – particularly in respect of nutritional applications, quality and food safety requirements. In this regard, the Minister extended an invitation to Stan McCarthy, Kerry Group CEO, to visit him in Beijing in January 2016 for further discussion and continued engagement with the Kerry organisation.

“We were very honoured to have such a distinguished Chinese government official as Minister Bi and his colleagues visit our Global Centre in Naas,” said Michael O’Neill, Group Director of Business Services and Chief Operating Officer, Kerry. “During the visit, we emphasized Kerry’s commitment to both Science and Innovation combined with Quality & Food Safety, partnering as a global team with our customers in China to drive sustainable growth.”

The delegates from China's dairy-leading companies showed great interest in Kerry’s comprehensive facility, nutritional applications and safety and quality assurance systems. Detailed discussions included learning how to ensure high standard health and safety criteria starting from superior laboratory practices.

On Monday, Ireland’s Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) held a ‘China-Ireland Regulatory Symposium’ in Dublin, which included industry speakers including Kerry and Beingmate.

Following the visit of Minister Bi on Monday; Kerry hosted Mr. Ma – Director General of the CFDA and six CFDA Officials with Mr. Teller Wang, Chairman of Beingmate on Tuesday. The Centre also hosted representatives of the Chinese dairy industry including Yili, Wissun and Newbase.

The phenomenal success of this ministerial visit demonstrated the significance of Kerry’s technology and innovation capabilities and the leadership provided through investment in Kerry's Global Centre network.
