Kerry named Supplier of the Year by Tyson Foods

Monday 8 August, 2016

Kerry was recently named Tyson Foods Supplier of the Year, marking the fourth time to receive the award.

Not only has Kerry received this honour more times than any other supplier, Kerry is the first company to be awarded both Supplier of the Year and Innovation Supplier of the Year by Tyson.

“It is my pleasure to once again recognize Kerry as Supplier of the Year for Tyson Foods,” said Craig Bacon, Sr. VP of RD&A at Tyson Foods. “Their work culture is so closely aligned with Tyson to help us deliver ‘great food.’ Innovation drives both of our companies’ philosophies in a way that, when we work together, one plus one truly equals three.”

A number of factors are taken into consideration throughout the year for this award, including supply chain performance, total cost of ownership, sustainability initiatives, customer service and more.

“Kerry is the model of what a great supplier should look like,” said Scott Blakenship, Sr. Director of Procurement at Tyson Foods. “With insights and innovation, as well as dedicated resources, they continue to raise the bar and set the standard by which all others are measured.”

Headquartered in Springdale, Ark., Tyson Foods is one of the world's largest food companies, providing chicken, beef and pork products as well as prepared foods. The company supplies retail and foodservice customers throughout the United States and around the globe.

“We sell over 600 SKUs of great-tasting, nutritious products to Tyson, so it takes a complete team effort to properly service a customer of that size,” said Mark Lawson, VP of Sales for Meat Systems at Kerry. “This award is only possible because of everyone across Kerry working to support Tyson’s growth.”

The award was presented to Kerry at a luncheon in May, with top Tyson executives in attendance.
